Dr. James “Catlin” Caines is a family medicine physician at St. Anthony North Family Medicine Orchard who is committed to valuing and empowering every patient through honest dialogue and compassionate care. Dr. Caines prioritizes autonomy and transparency, believing that strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of effective healthcare. He creates a welcoming environment for all and is committed to providing respectful and sensitive care to transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive patients. Dr. Caines completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming, earning degrees in Kinesiology and Molecular Biology. He then obtained a Master’s degree in Human Anatomy from Colorado State University. Dr. Caines received his medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Ventura County Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident. He also completed a fellowship in High-Risk and Surgical Obstetrics and Family Planning at Ventura County Medical Center.
